This is our sixth Contractor of the Year award from NARI, and one of more than 30 local, regional, and national awards and special honors we have been honored to receive.

The 2015 award-winning project is a major exterior renovation with the addition of a porch and conversion of a carport to a garage.

Our client, a family of four, had been considering remodeling their entire home, inside and out, for over two years. Life, budget, and other things always seemed to get in the way.

The front of the house was so unwelcoming and a creative design solution was needed. But a solution was also needed to get the project going. Since creativity isn’t limited to only the design of a project, we worked with our clients to prioritize, and separated the project into three phases.

The first phase was to plan and design the entire project inside and out. The second phase was to remodel the exterior. We turned an outdated, sad-looking 1970’s era home into an award-winning home with lots of curb appeal and greatly improved functionality. When building the garage, we were able to add needed storage that was sorely missing with the carport.

Most of the old windows were replaced with modern energy efficient ones. A water intrusion problem was solved by rebuilding the exterior using materials and techniques in a design that not only corrects the water infiltration, but also looks great, provides better insulation and is virtually maintenance free.

The third and last phase will be to complete the interior remodeling. Having planned the entire project upfront, we were able to remodel the exterior in a way that will make remodeling the interior easier and eliminate or minimize the need to redo parts of the exterior to accommodate planned changes on the inside.

While we are honored by this award, we are especially pleased that we helped this wonderful young family start down the road to reviving an old home in a great neighborhood so that it is welcoming on the outside and will one day have a fresh new interior as well.
